Gateworks and Septentrio Team Up to Launch a Precision GNSS M.2 Card for Mission-Critical Edge Applications
Septentrio, part of Hexagon, a leader in high-precision GNSS positioning solutions, is collaborating with Gateworks Corporation, a US-based manufacturer of high-quality Single Board Computers (SBCs). Gateworks is bringing its first Septentrio-based product to market which provides reliable high-accuracy positioning powered by the mosaic-X5 GNSS module.
Redefining Edge Navigation
The mosaic-X5 module is a multi-frequency, multi-constellation receiver renowned for its high level of resilience to GNSS jamming and spoofing2 thanks to the built-in AIM+ (Advanced Interference Mitigation) technology. It also features a suite of GNSS+ algorithms that ensure robust positioning of rugged systems operating in challenging industrial environments. The GW16160 card with mosaic-X5 is a positioning solution for edge devices, including autonomous robots, UAVs, and industrial mission-critical applications.
Designed and manufactured in the USA, the GW16160 allows engineers to integrate high-accuracy GNSS into edge systems without bulky external receivers or complex RF design. This ultra-low power card features an M.2 A/E-Key interface with USB 2.0 connectivity for plug-and-play integration.
This collaboration brings Septentrio’s industry-leading positioning technology to rugged embedded systems. Combined with Gateworks SBCs, the GW16160 enables faster deployment for autonomous and kinematic systems without compromising positioning accuracy or resilience.
Kelly Peralta, VP of Sales and Business Development, Gateworks Corporation
We are excited to collaborate with Gateworks, an American-based partner with a solid track record of developing and distributing high-quality electronics. The new M.2 card strengthens the mosaic ecosystem, optimizing space and design efficiency of industrial and mission-critical edge applications that require high-performance positioning.
Gustavo Lopez, Market Portfolio Manager, Septentrio, Part of Hexagon
The Gateworks GW16160 is a rugged, industrial-grade GNSS M.2 card featuring the Septentrio mosaic-X5 multi-frequency receiver. Designed for autonomous systems, robotics, drones and outdoor asset tracking and delivers centimeter-level RTK positioning and interference mitigation in a compact, low-power form factor. The GW16160 seamlessly integrates with Gateworks SBCs to enable high-accuracy GNSS for edge applications in even the most challenging environments. The Septentrio Mosaic-X5 receiver module supports up to 448 hardware channels, including GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, Navic, SBAS, L-band and 5 constellation RTK (base and rover).
High-accuracy GNSS systems have traditionally required large systems, costly certification and complicated integration. The GW16160 removes these barriers by offering:
- Survey-grade positioning in a compact M.2 form factor
- 448-channel tracking across all major GNSS constellations
- RTK accuracy down to 0.6 cm with support for PPP, SSR and SBAS
- Reliable operation in high-vibration and interference-prone environments
- Secure browser-based tools for diagnostics, spectrum analysis and monitoring
- Anti-jamming, Anti-spoofing Advanced Interference Monitoring and Mitigation
Compatibility and Getting Started Information
Pair the GW16160 with a GW16151 adapter for use with Venice Single Board Computers or other SBCs with Mini-PCIe sockets. The GW16160 is compatible with all Gateworks VeniceFLEX Single Board Computers and will be compatible with the upcoming Catalina Single Board Computers based on NXP Semiconductor’s i.MX95.
