History

Gateworks was founded by Gordon Edmonds in 1996 and initially focused on embedded software and firmware development. Gateworks quickly expanded into embedded systems hardware and incorporated in 1998, adding Doug Hollingsworth and Ron Eisworth to the founding team. The company focused design efforts on CompactPCI processor boards and came out with its first standard products in 1999. The founders sold Gateworks to I-Bus/Phoenix in 2000 and became part of their research and development group with Mr. Edmonds continuing to head the unit as General Manager.

In 2003, the original founders, Messrs. Edmonds, Hollingsworth and Eisworth bought out the investors and refocused the company to provide powerful solutions to the surging mobile and wireless communications markets. Gateworks has since become the leading supplier of state-of-the-art Network Processor Boards for transmitting and receiving audio, video and data in embedded wireless network systems.

Gordon Edmonds

President and Chief Executive Officer

Gordon Edmonds is President, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Gateworks, the leading supplier of Powerful ARM based Network Processor Board solutions for transmitting and receiving audio, video and data in embedded wireless network systems with its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in San Luis Obispo, California. Mr. Edmonds was founder of Gateworks Development in 1996 which incorporated in 1998.

Prior to Gateworks, Mr. Edmonds was Software Development Manager at Ziatech Corporation developing BIOS firmware for industrial PC’s based on STD Bus and Compact-PCI. Mr. Edmonds began his career as a Design Engineer at Hewlett Packard’s Data Systems Division, developing and supporting firmware for mini-computer disk drive systems.

Under Mr. Edmonds' leadership, Gateworks has seen significant sales growth over the last ten years and built a cost effect highly automated SMT manufacturing capability in San Luis Obispo, California with significant profitability for the company. The company owns all its assets and is funded entirely from sales.

Mr. Edmonds received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

Doug Hollingsworth

Doug Hollingsworth

Vice President of Engineering

Doug Hollingsworth is Vice President of Engineering and Founder of Gateworks. Mr. Hollingsworth is responsible for all development of the company’s industry leading Powerful ARM based Network Processor Board Solutions for receiving and transmitting audio, video and data in embedded wireless network systems.

Prior to Gateworks, Mr. Hollingsworth was Hardware Development Manager at Ziatech Corporation and responsible for development of STD Bus and Compact-PCI products. Mr. Hollingsworth began his career at Prolog Corporation as a Design Engineer leading a design team that developed a 16-bit extension to the STD Bus standard.

Mr. Hollingsworth has directed and completed the design of five generations of Network Processor Boards: AVILA, CAMBRIA, RINCON, LAGUNA and the new state-of-the-art VENTANA Family which integrates audio and video with a high performance Network Processor Board. The new VENTANA Family is based upon the new, advanced Freescale i.MX6 ARM Cortex-A9 1.2 GHz Single, Dual and Quad Cores Processor to push product performance up to the next level. Over 250 board level products have been designed and introduced under Mr. Hollingsworth’s leadership.

Mr. Hollingsworth received a Bachelor of Science in electrical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.

Ron Eisworth

Ron Eisworth

Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Mr. Eisworth is Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Founder of Gateworks. Mr. Eisworth is responsible for all Sales and Marketing functions in the company including providing design engineering assistance to customers for the five families of Powerful ARM based Network Processor Boards.

Mr. Eisworth began his engineering career with General Dynamics as a Design Specialist in the radar design group performing analysis, design, test, and evaluation of advanced digital signal processors. He then joined Ziatech Corporation as a Hardware Engineer, designing Compact-PCI and STD Bus based industrial computer systems. He joined the newly formed Gateworks as Principal Engineer designing custom Compact-PCI solutions and Compact PCI Server Blade products prior to assuming responsibility for Sales and Marketing.

Mr. Eisworth has led Gateworks in achieving hundreds of design wins that cross over many market segments and applications. These design wins have resulted in significant revenue increases and sales growth over the last 10 years along with recognition by Inc. 500/5000 for fastest growing companies.

Mr. Eisworth received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, California and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Orlando Gallegos

Orlando Gallegos

Vice President, Sales and Business Development

Mr. Gallegos is Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Gateworks and is responsible for all aspects of customer development including marketing, key market segment and key customer penetration, online marketing, developing a sales force, new product market introduction, and product planning.

Mr. Gallegos began his career with GTE Lenkurt as a Design Engineer working on Compression/Suppression non-linear amplifiers on the T1 Carrier System. He then moved into sales and marketing positions: Director of Marketing CMOS/LSI at National Semiconductor, Vice President Sales and Marketing for a Division of McDonald Douglas and Vice President Sales and Marketing at Samsung Semiconductor. He then co-founded two venture funded Field Programmable Gate Array companies as President and CEO of Crosspoint Solutions and Vice President and COO of GateField which were sold after initial product introduction to the marketplace was completed. Mr. Gallegos then became President of management consultant OASIC Systems. Mr. Gallegos recently joined Gateworks as Director of Business Development and has since gained the title of Vice President of Sales and Business Development.

Mr. Gallegos received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University.

Chris Lang

Chris Lang

Director of Operations

Mr. Chris Lang is Director of Operations at Gateworks and is responsible for all manufacturing in the company. He is focused on maintaining manufacturing capacity ahead of market demand, cost effective manufacturing flows and yields, and achieving the highest product quality and reliability.

Mr. Lang began his career with California Internet Connection developing a Wireless Internet Network for San Luis Obispo County. Mr. Lang then joined Gateworks as a Software Development Engineer working on the AVILA, CAMBRIA, RINCON and LAGUNA Families of Network Processor Boards. Mr. Lang was promoted to Production Manager and then to Director of Operations.

Mr. Lang developed and implemented innovative and advanced manufacturing software which provides 100% traceability of product through the entire production flow. This software system provides computerized documentation control for all manufacturing processes from production work order, bills of material, electronic change notifications, incoming material, inventory tracking, SMT file generation, production inspection, test, and customer shipping.
